EarthSpirit Eastern Massachusetts
Annual Open Beltaine Ritual

Beltaine ~ Saturday, April 28, 2018

Beltaine is the midpoint of Spring, when we gather together to reconnect after the Winter.

The Annual Clean Up and Maypole Circle will be held at
Greenwood Park in the Middlesex Fells, 149 Pond Street, Stoneham, Massachusetts
Directly across from the Stone Zoo

We are returning to our great location this year with plenty of parking and across the street from the Stone Zoo.

We’ll meet at 10 AM for the annual “spring cleaning”. By cleaning up trash and removing the leaves from the new grass, we come together to do something to help the Earth. Spring cleaning also symbolizes our own renewal with the changing of the season. Children are encouraged to attend. (Extra trash bags, gloves, and tools always help in removing any winter-accumulated trash and debris!)

We’ll begin the ritual at 11 AM.

During the clean up, we add to the symbolic Winter Spirit with some of the debris we collect, so come early to be a part of this!

We also have flower wreaths to make, bubbles to blow, and always encourage drumming and connecting.

After the Maypole, we’ll have a potluck picnic and spend time enjoying each others’ company. Please bring a dish (with ingredients labeled) to share, and if you can, your own plate and utensils so we don’t have to use disposables.

Come Celebrate Spring!
We’ll pass a hat for small donations of $5-$10.

Directions

By Car: 149 Pond Street, Stoneham, MA

From Rt. 93 South: Take Exit 35. Turn left on to Fallon Road at the end of the ramp, then turn right on to North Border Road. Continue straight through the stop light at Route 28. You’ll pass the Stone Zoo on your right, and you’ll be able to see the park on the other side of the median. You’ll have to continue straight for a short while until you come to the next intersection, where you’ll be able to make an easy U-turn to come back to the parking lot.

From Rt. 93 North: Take Exit 33. At the traffic circle, take the first major exit (labeled for 93N and Fellsway West), then immediately bear right for the Fellsway. In about half a mile, turn right on to Elm Street and follow it to another traffic circle. At this one, take the second exit on to Woodland Road. (You’ll be traveling as if you’d been able to just turn left on to Woodland.) You’ll pass a doctor’s office building and then two streets on the right (Ravine and Pond) before coming to the park entrance on the right

Once parked: Walk through the playground area. There’s a wall behind the playground with several breaks in it. Go through the one that is furthest to the left, and then follow the ribbon trail up to our spot! The walk is about 2 minutes on a groomed but not smooth trail.

Public Transportation: Greenwood Park can be reached via the 132 MBTA Bus from Oak Grove Station.
