Since 1979, our community has gathered each May, from many places and paths, coming together to celebrate and learn, share, work, and play.

Last year, our Rites of Spring celebration was heart-filling and powerful, even online and at a distance. Online once again this year, we will create and strengthen our spiritual community with

  • Ceremonies from different traditions, including our annual Web Weaving Ritual
  • Family and children’s events and workshops
  • Concerts and community sharing of poetry, music, stories, and art
  • Intensive classes
  • Affinity Groups and programs for “Over 60’s”, Queer folx, recovery, young adults, families with children, artists, writers, activists, women, men and more.
  • Time to connect with the sacredness of nature in your own home environment, with all our feet on the same Earth
  • Dozens of workshops on subjects such as ritual, engagement and activism, magic, tarot, heathenry, meditation, hand drumming, permaculture, dance, and indigenous European traditions

Together we form a vibrant and joyful living community that expands outward with us when we leave.

This year’s theme is Re-emergence

What does it mean to slowly re-emerge after such a long period of darkness and isolation? How can we best care for ourselves and each other, as the world changes again? How can we strengthen our sense of community? This year’s program will feature discussions, practices, workshops, and rituals, with these questions in mind.

We are expecting 50 workshops, a dozen rituals, and many performances, as well as opportunities for conversation and sharing. Some workshops will be recorded, with permission, so that registered participants can view them afterwards for up to 90 days. (Rituals and other participatory events will not be recorded.)

Join us for what promises to be an inspirational and joyful Rites of Spring.

Presentations

The vast majority of excellent presenters at Rites of Spring are volunteers from within the community. We love the diversity this brings to the program, and invite you to consider sharing the way that you practice — by offering a workshop, ritual, discussion, or performance for adults, families, or our young people’s program.

Program Proposals – Priority Deadline – March 28  Submit a proposal now!

The first round of program decisions will be made at the beginning of April. Anything received later than that will be added to a waiting list and considered for scheduling on a space-available basis.

Rites of Spring Culture and Community

About our Community

Rites of Spring is designed to encourage interdependence as a community. People who regularly attend have created an extended and inclusive clan that arises out of the mist and welcomes new members each spring. This clan holds together because of a few simple expectations based on personal responsibility, some shared basic values, and a personal spiritual connection with the sacred Earth. These expectations grow from a sensitivity and respect for other people regardless of spiritual tradition, race, gender, age, sexual orientation, or other differences, along with a willingness to engage in the daily practice of living in a community.

Newcomers
We want to ensure that people who are at Rites of Spring for the first time make connections and feel at home. We strongly encourage you to join us for the full 6 days rather than just for the weekend, so that you have time to truly experience being part of the community.

Please be sure to mark the newcomers check box on the application form, so that we can welcome you warmly to our community. We invite you to attend at least one Newcomer’s event on Wednesday or Friday — even if you have attended other pagan gatherings in the past. These will be hosted by long-standing community members and will help you connect with both new and experienced members of the community.

Thank you for giving us a chance to help make your first Rites of Spring more enjoyable.

Merchants
Our merchants are mainly craftspeople and artists. They have always been a big part of Rites of Spring and add so much with their beautiful handmade items. Please visit with and support them during Rites of Spring!

We encourage merchants to be fully engaged participants in the community, taking some time away from your wares to relax and to participate in other aspects of the gathering, especially the large whole-community events, like the Firelighting and Web Weaving Rituals.

Families and Young Adults

Young People

Young people are a vital part of our community and we aim to include them throughout the event.

Children
We design programs for all ages of children and for families. There will be a series of morning sessions for families to participate in together, as well as some programs designed for very young and older children. We hope that families will also come to the community rituals together and find many ways to enjoy being with each other and in community. More information will be sent to registered parents in mid May.

Young Adults

There is a strong sense of community among young adults at Rites of Spring. Following their Coming of Age Ritual, or at about age 15, young members of the community are invited to participate in our “Next Generation” affinity group which is designed as a place where individuals between 15 and 25 can come together. Newcomers in this age group are especially encouraged to join. Programs of special interest to young adults are scheduled throughout the gathering, and most general programs are open to people in this age group.

Rites of Spring Culture and Policies

Rites of Spring is an attempt to create a spiritual community that can work and live together. Over the years we have established certain guidelines that we must ask all participants to agree to before registering. If you do not feel that you can agree to abide by these policies, please do not submit an application form.

  • Rules established by the camp management must be respected.
  • The links and passwords you receive are to be used only for your own participation.
  • Parents are responsible for their children at all times.
  • No nudity is permitted on screen.
  • Rites of Spring is not a public event. Media coverage of Rites of Spring is prohibited without written consent of the organizers.
  • Recording of programming without the consent of the organizers is prohibited.
  • Taking screenshots without express permission of everyone visible during Rites of Spring is prohibited..
  • EarthSpirit and Tamelin Productions reserve the right to deny or revoke admission to Rites of Spring without refund for dangerous or disruptive behavior or for non-compliance with gathering policies.

Some workshop programming at Rites of Spring will be recorded by the organizers. Everyone in these programs will be informed in advance of such recording. By remaining in these workshops with your camera and microphone on, you are giving EarthSpirit and Tamelin Productions permission to use your voice or your image for future viewing by registered participants and/or for teaching or promotional purposes. Rituals and other more immersive participatory experiences will not be recorded.
