| In the fullness of Autumn, in the growing darkness, come take part in a celebration
of this time when the veil between the worlds is thin.
Take time for yourself to reflect on mortality, honor those who have
passed and find a quiet place in the darkness, to reap your harvest between now
and winter.
Grotesque costumes
are strongly discouraged
at this sacred event.
Lyrics for chants we use at Samhain
If you like, you may bring a small photograph of a departed loved one to
add to the ancestor altar (be sure to write your name on the back and pick them
up again before you leave).
Please bring new basics like scarves, gloves, hats, travel size toiletries, socks, underwear for the local shelter as a symbol of the
way we can support one another through the dark time.
Cookies, beverages, or other treats to share after the ritual are also welcome
If you would like to contribute a brief poem, dance or song to the celebration, please contact us by email (earthspirit@earthspirit.com) before December 1 so we can see how it might fit in.
Donations for admission $7
to $10 on a sliding scale will be collected at the door to cover our expenses. Associate members may deduct $1.
Children under 16 may be admitted for 1/2 price however, please remember this is a solemn remembrance event and children should only attend if you, as a parent, feel it is appropriate for them and they will not disrupt the event for others. |
