Twilight Covening 1997 |
All beings of the Earth: What would it be like to create an event that serves as both an institute for in-depth study of spiritual and magical techniques, and an opportunity for Pagans to fully immerse themselves in their spirituality by living in ritual space? Twelve years ago, the EarthSpirit Community began an experiment called Twilight Covening, which took on its first shape in 1986 and has been evolving ever since. It has brought together many different teachers and ritual styles and has offered many challenges to the community, as we reach into our pool of knowledge and expertise to share that with one another and deepen our experience of Paganism as a life's path. This year's Twilight Covening, October 10-13, is a continuation of that process. Participants will meet in Clans during the weekend to learn and practice particular techniques in depth, and all of the Clans will gather at the solar quarters of the day to open to the cyclical patterns of nature and to each other as part of that. Some of this year's Clans, like the ones focused on drumming, silence, spinning and sacred oils have been offered at Twilight Covening before. Others, such as a Clan specifically for newcomers and one about healing, are being presented for the first time. As a new aspect of this experiment, this year, for the first time, the Clans have been listed according to the level of experience that they are intended to benefit. With the realization that our community is composed of individuals ranging from true beginner to those with 15-20 years or more of intensive training, it is important that Twilight Covening address the needs of as many potential participants as possible, and that it be an opportunity for Pagans with many years of experience and study to stretch and go deeper in their work, as well as a place for newcomers to begin to explore their chosen path. We look forward to another beautiful autumn weekend in the mountains - a time of study, reflection, dreaming and spiritual community. We hope to see you there. |
